ACTIONS IN THE EVENT OF CHEMICAL HAZARD:

  • keep calm, don’t panic
  • wear gas mask, respirator or gauze bandage, closed clothing
  • stay indoors and tightly close and seal cracks in windows, doors, close chimneys, ventilation hatches
  • follow further instructions through the media about the place of collection for evacuation
  • warn relatives, neighbors, the elderly about the danger and evacuation, provide assistance to the disabled
  • if you suspect an injury – avoid physical activity, drink plenty of fluids and seek medical attention
  • fter leaving the infected area, remove outer clothing, wash thoroughly.

FIRST AID FOR POISONING BY HAZARDOUS CHEMICALS:

CHLORINE:

  • the victim should be immediately taken out into the fresh air, tightly covered and allowed to breathe water vapor or aerosol 0.5% soda solution for 15 minutes
  • do not allow to move independently
  • to transport – only in a lying position
  • if necessary – do artificial respiration
  • wash the contaminant from the body, change clothes
  • in case of eye damage – rinse with plenty of water or a weak solution of soda

AMMONIA:

 

  • the victim should be taken out into the fresh air immediately
  • to transport – in a supine position
  • provide warmth, calm, give moist oxygen
  • wash the contaminant from the body, change clothes

PHOSGENE:

  • the victim should be taken out into the fresh air immediately
  • give oxygen, rinse eyes with warm water
  • observe for 48 hours (pulmonary edema may develop)

 

PHOSPHYN:

  • the victim should be taken out into the fresh air immediately
  • wash away possible dirt and change clothes
  • if necessary, give oxygen, activated carbon at the rate of 1 gram per kilogram of weight

HYDROGEN CHLORIDE:

  • the victim should be taken out into the fresh air immediately
  • wash off the dirt for at least 3 minutes and change clothes
  • rinse eyes with water or saline solution for 15 minutes
  • give to drink as much water as possible

NITROGEN OXIDES:

  • the victim should be taken out into the fresh air immediately
  • wash off dirt for at least 15 minutes and change clothes
  • rinse eyes for at least 15 minutes
  • give to drink as much water as possible
