The design of environmental engineering structures is very important and relevant for today’s Ukraine. According to the “National Waste Management Plan until 2030”, approved on February 20, 2019, in our country will be decommissioning and closure of waste dumps and landfills that pose a danger and do not meet the requirements of environmental legislation. The management plan also provides for the adoption of a separate law on municipal waste, the creation of infrastructure for the disposal of household and hazardous waste.
A SHW landfill, unlike a waste dump, is an engineering structure that is designed to dispose of household waste and must prevent adverse effects on the environment and human health.
Landfill design and landfill site remediation is a matter of responsibility, as these facilities pose an increased risk to humans and the environment.
Design work takes place in 3 stages:
- research (monitoring) of the existing situation;
- designing;
- project expertise.
Research (monitoring) of the existing situation
The design must take into account urban conditions and restrictions, legal requirements, in particular the requirements of SBN B.2.4-2-2005 “Landfills for solid waste”, “Rules for the operation of landfills”, as well as all available environmental aspects and risks.
It is a comprehensive and responsible approach to the design of construction and reclamation of landfills is the credit of LLC “Center ltd.”. As part of our company, the project team works together with its own certified laboratory, which allows us to conduct clear, factual, unbiased monitoring of the existing state of the planned activity, correctly collect initial data for design, including engineering surveys (geological, hydrogeological, geodetic), laboratory research (soil, surface and groundwater, filtrate, air, biogas).
Designing
After evaluating the collected data, the project team develops the main sections of the project:
- Section EN Explanatory note;
- section GP of the decision of the general plan;
- section TS technological solutions;
- section WU water use of internal engineering networks (including drainage, collection and disposal of leachate);
- section GM graphic materials;
- section COB organization of construction;
- EIA section environmental impact assessment (includes calculation of the expected amount of landfill gas (biogas));
- section AS architectural and construction solutions;
- section PS (power supply internal engineering networks)
- estimates, etc.
The main purpose of the project is to fulfill the technical task of the customer in compliance with construction and environmental legislation. Only with such synergy can we get and guarantee a quality result – the implemented project.
Our company has been successful in the field of environmental design for many years and has real experience in the development and implementation of projects for construction / reclamation of landfills and construction of waste sorting complexes. (Figs. 1,2,3).
We have practical experience of cooperation with international organizations, partnership agreements with European design institutes, professional vision of complex atypical projects that require highly qualified specialists and non-standard solutions to adapt the use of European technologies to the requirements of Ukrainian legislation.
Project expertise
Examination of the project is carried out by expert organizations included in the list of expert organizations that meet the Criteria established by the order of the Ministry of Regional Development dated 15.08.2017 № 204, and can conduct examination of construction projects.
