The main sources of anthropogenic environmental pollution are energy producers (thermal power plants, nuclear power plants, hydroelectric power plants, hundreds of thousands of boiler plants). All industrial facilities (primarily metallurgical, chemical, oil refining, cement, pulp and paper), extensive agricultural production with the use of excessive amounts of pesticides, military industry and military facilities, motor vehicles and other types of transport, mining pollute the environment with hundreds toxic substances, harmful physical fields, noise, vibration and heat.

Currently, negative human impacts on the environment often lead to unpredictable changes in ecological systems. Water contaminated with chemical substances is not suitable for use in the food industry and in everyday life, it harms human health. Soil pollution affects its fertility.

Oil and oil products are among the most widespread and dangerous pollutants of natural waters and soils. In addition to hydrocarbons, they contain oxygen-, sulfur- and nitrogen-containing compounds. Low-sulfur oils contain up to 0.5% sulfur, high-sulfur oils – more than 2%. The content of nitrogen and oxygen ranges from tenths to 1.2-1.8%. More than 20 different elements (V, Ni, Ca, Mg, Fe, Al, Si, Na, etc.) were found in the oils.

Under increasing threat of environmental pollution with chemical substances, the issue of solution and rapid response to threats is increasingly important. Adverse effects of chemicals and toxins on the environment in regions with developed industry can be weakened.

Elimination technological accidental leaks of oil products on sea vessels, on the territory of gas stations, storage facilities for petroleum products, car companies, service stations, parking lots, garage cooperatives, as well as at other facilities where oil products are used, ecological kits for liquidation of oil product spills are used “ECO AID” .

Environmental set for liquidation of oil product spills “ECO AID” (“ECO AID” ECO kit) is a compact, mobile set of necessary tools for quick collection of spilled oil/oil products from the surface of the soil, asphalt, concrete floor, to prevent oil products from entering the storm sewer.

The main purpose of the “ECO AID” ECO kit is to solve the problem of disposal of oil-containing waste.

The “ECO AID” ECO kit includes glauconite or biosorbent sorbent, absorbent caps and pillows, absorbent napkins, waste bags, protective oil-resistant gloves, storage bag and instructions for use.

The mineral sorbent glauconite belongs to the 4th class of danger according to the degree of influence on the human body. It does not show a local effect on intact skin. Glauconite does not form toxic compounds in the air, does not burn, is explosion-proof.

Surface application of the sorbent “Glauconit” is used to neutralize contamination of the upper layers (up to a depth of 0.4-0.6 meters) of the aeration zone. Physically, this method means mixing the sorbent and pollutant within the affected soil.

Biodestructor sorbent is a new generation oil sorbent with sorption and destruction activity for oil hydrocarbons. It helps eliminate oil spills and leaks of any volume of oil products on water, soil and hard surfaces. It is a unique natural oil absorbent, the composition of which contains destructor bacteria for a biodestructive effect on hydrocarbon-containing compounds.

What is the procedure for using the “ECO AID” ECO kit?

  • In the case of a minor spill of petroleum products on a solid surface, the stain is treated with a thin layer of sorbent until it is saturated. A sign of saturation is its darkening.
  • In the event that the amount of spilled petroleum product is so large that the stain spreads, measures are taken to localize it (perimeter treatment), which will prevent the contamination from spreading further. Minibons can also be used as a fence.
  • If for some reason the pollution was not eliminated and it rained, first of all it is necessary to surround the well of the storm sewer with a ring of booms to prevent the penetration of oil products there. Absorbent wipes and a degreaser should be used to wipe metal, painted surfaces after using the product.
  • After use, mini bons and napkins should be disposed of with household waste.

Methods of eliminating exposure to toxic chemicals may be as follows: construction of an engineering-geochemical barrier, surface application of sorbent, boom barriers, sorbent reclamation.
