Law of Ukraine “On Waste Management”
On July 9, 2023, the norms of the Law of Ukraine “On Waste Management” entered into force. It launches a waste management reform and establishes new rules for local governments to manage household waste in communities.
Local waste management plan (WMP)
- It is a policy document containing a set of interrelated tasks and measures aimed at ensuring sustainable waste management in the community.
- The local waste management plan is designed by the developer in accordance with paragraph 1 of the second part of Article 26 of the Law of Ukraine “On Waste Management”.
- The WMP is developed for a 10-year period and to be reviewed at least every four years from the date of entry into force.
- The WMP is updated within six months from the date of amendment of the regional waste management plan.
- The developed WMP project is approved by the regional state administration.
- This document is binding on all territorial communities.
