\nFrom September 12 to 15, participants and experts of the PAEW Association worked out solutions
\nto accelerate changes and strengthen Ukraine’s energy independence.<\/p>\n
Who will finance climate protection and energy transition, and how? How private capital can be
\nsuccessfully channeled into environmental projects to ensure a sustainable future? How this can help
\nus reach our Paris climate agreement goals by using Austria’s experience? These are questions that
\nare extremely relevant today for Ukraine.<\/p>\n
To accumulate the best solutions, learn the European experience, attract Austrian companies and
\norganizations to the implementation of joint green initiatives, promote the energy transformation of
\nall sectors of the economy of Ukraine and create an effective system of incentives for energy
\nefficiency not only in the utility sector, but primarily in industry, the Association of Environmental
\nProfessionals PAEW initiated the holding working visit to Vienna.<\/p>\n
\nFrom September 12 to 15, participants and experts of the PAEW Association worked out solutions
\nto accelerate changes and strengthen Ukraine’s energy independence.<\/p>\n
The delegation includes representatives of the Ministry of Reconstruction, the Ministry of Energy,
\nthe Office of the President, specialists of Ukrenergo, Atmosfera, DTEK, Center LTD, Astarta-Kyiv,
\nZakhidnadraservice, Energoatom, as well as scientists and experts.<\/p>\n
“We are grateful to the European partners for their support and to the Association of Environmental
\nProfessionals PAEW for the opportunity to participate. We have one task – Victory and restoration
\nof Ukraine. It is important that Ukraine choose environmentally friendly recovery, which takes place
\nusing the best available technologies and practices, which we had the opportunity to see here in
\nAustria,” said Oleg Bota, director of Center LTD.<\/p>\n

During the visit, the participants met with the Austrian Federal Minister for Climate Protection,
\nEnvironment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology, Leonora Gewessler, within which Mrs.
\nGewessler shared Austria’s experience in the field of energy efficiency, RES, decarbonization and
\nenvironmental transformation and the specific mechanisms that have already created and operating
\nin Austria.<\/p>\n
Thus, the Ministry of Climate Affairs of Austria has launched an initiative that supports financial
\ncompanies on the way to climate neutrality.<\/p>\n

Thus, the country is taking an important step towards the implementation of climate change
\nmitigation goals for companies in the financial sector, as defined in the Paris Agreement.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The Green Finance Alliance is one of the first global government-backed initiatives to call on
\nfinancial companies to make voluntary commitments to climate goals and therefore specific criteria
\nfor their core business.<\/p>\n
Austria’s future energy supply continues to depend on a combination of traditional fossil and
\nrenewable energy sources. By the way, 80% of Austria’s gas supply in 2021 was provided by russia.<\/p>\n

Energy efficiency plays a central role in Austria’s energy policy. The transition from fossil fuels to
\nefficient renewable energy sources requires large investments. Along with public funds, private
\ncapital must increasingly be directed to activities that will contribute to the preservation of the
\nclimate.<\/p>\n
Energy efficiency has additional benefits for the Austrian economy, particularly in foreign trade
\n(less energy is imported) and the labor market (energy efficiency measures are labor intensive).
\nBoth at the level of the federal government and at the level of the federal states, Austria has
\nintroduced a number of instruments and measures to save energy and improve energy efficiency. In
\naddition to regulation, these measures address research areas, technological development and aimed
\nat facilitating market penetration, as well as information dissemination and financial incentives for
\nthe implementation of relevant measures.<\/p>\n
Energy efficiency measures contribute to the following objectives: security of energy supply,
\necologically clean energy supply, economically efficient energy supply, social acceptance of the
\nenergy supply system.<\/p>\n
It should be noted that Austria's main climate and energy goals include:
\n– climate neutrality by 2040.
\n– 100% electricity from renewable energy sources with clear development targets for all
\ntechnologies by 2030.
\n– adoption of the Law on the Development of Renewable Energy
\n– + 27 TW of renewable electricity by 2030: + 11 TW of solar energy, + 10 TW of wind energy,
\n+ 5 TW of hydropower + 1 TW of biomass energy.<\/p>\n
In summary, it is worth noting that Austria invests in research and development of green
\ntechnologies and RES, in order to achieve to achieve the stated climate and energy goals,
\nsustainable development, environmental protection, adaptation to climate change and ensuring a
\nstable future of the country.<\/p>\n
